For makers
If you work in clay, bamboo, textile, folk painting or any handmade craft, we would like to know about your practice. Formal training is not required. Practice is.
For anyone curious
Workshops need hands. Setting up, welcoming people, keeping the clay wet, photographing the mess. You will be next to the artisans while they work.
Applying is an expression of interest, not a commitment on either side. We read everything that arrives, and we write back.
How it usually goes
Nobody moves through this on a schedule. Some people stop at the first one and that is a complete thing in itself.
Read, watch, ask. Come to a workshop as a participant and see whether the material agrees with you.
Make something badly, then make it again. This is the part nobody can do on your behalf.
Meet the people who do this daily. Volunteer at a session and see how one actually runs.
Teach it. Hand somebody else their first lump of clay and watch what happens next.
What actually arrives
We would rather send you something worth reading once a fortnight than something forgettable every day.
New workshop dates go to the community first, usually a couple of days before they are announced anywhere else.
